Abstract
The training of high-level specialists through postgraduate education is an urgent need for the Higher Institute of Design (ISDi) of the University of Havana, the only institution in the country where the degrees of Industrial Design and Design are studied. Visual Communication, which also corresponds to the improvement of professionals capable of guaranteeing the development and continuity of design activity in the country. In response to this reality, it was considered as a general objective of the present investigation to develop a strategy that would stimulate postgraduate education in Design and with it the training of masters and doctors in this area of ​​knowledge. Scientific research methods were used, both theoretical and empirical, and a unique case study was developed that allowed us to reach reliable results that were adequate to the current context in the country. The main results are identified in the determination of the internal and external factors that influence the development of postgraduate education at ISDi and in particular the training of masters and doctors in this area of ​​scientific technological knowledge. Based on the results obtained, a postgraduate education strategy was developed for the Higher Design Institute of the University of Havana.
