Abstract
Last June, the IX FORMA 2017 Design Congress was held at the Havana Convention Palace, with the motto “Conscious Design.” On this occasion, among others, prominent speakers Ezio Manzini (Italy), Diego Vainesman (Argentina / USA), Alejandro Chacón (Chile) and Oscar Salinas (Mexico) were invited. In total, 272 works were presented between Cubans and foreigners, previously evaluated by a scientific committee. Due to the relevance of the event, of great international prestige and the only one of its kind in Cuba, A3manos wanted to dedicate this issue to it, which will begin with the inaugural conference by Sergio Peña, Director of the Higher Institute of Design (ISDi). We have also included Diego Vainesman's intervention “From dust to cloud” which gives way to a selection of the most representative presentations of the topics addressed at the meeting: Design Pedagogy, Diversity and sustainable development, Creative Industries, Communication and culture.
