Abstract

Mechanics is a textbook aimed at students of Industrial Design. Its theoretical and illustrative content will allow them to understand certain physical phenomena present in mechanics, fundamentally within the field of the resistance of materials, an essential aspect to be taken into account by the industrial designer.

Curriculum synthesis

Eduardo Dorta, Higher Institute of Design. University of Havana

Graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in the USSR, 1976. Doctor in Military Sciences in the USSR, 1986. He holds several teaching positions in military faculties in Cuba. He has several textbooks and more than 15 published articles. He has been a judge for several national scientific events. He is currently the main professor of undergraduate technical subjects, coordinator of the Master's Degree in "Design Management", member of the Scientific Council, the Doctoral Committee, the Academic Committee of the master's degree, the Teaching Category tribunal; of the court of Social Problems of Science and Technology at the ISDi.

Antonio Berazaín, Higher Institute of Design. University of Havana

Consulting professor at the Department of Industrial Design of the Higher Institute of Design (ISDi) of the University of Havana. Master in Physics Teaching. He has 50 years of experience in Higher Education, dedicated to the training of teachers and industrial designers. He has held different management positions, such as head of teaching department, vice dean and vice rector. He has participated in a hundred scientific events in Cuba and others countries. He has about 50 publications, in scientific journals or reports of events related to materials science and physics teaching.

Eduardo Arrufat, Higher Institute of Design. University of Havana

PhD in Technical Sciences. 2003. Master's degree in Mechanical Design. 1996. Associate Researcher 1999. Assistant Professor 2014. Professor of the Master's Program in Management and Innovation in Design. At the Higher Institute of Design. From 09/2011 to 10/2012. Havana, Cuba. Professor of the subject of Strength of Materials, Theoretical Mechanics and Mechanisms. He is the author or co-author of scientific articles related to applied mechanics and scientific articles on educational topics. He has received high distinctions and decorations from the Council of State and the Ministry of the Armed Forces of Cuba for his contribution to Cuban science.
