Abstract
The quality of life constitutes an indicator of socioeconomic development for a country, since without quality the needs of society are not - and cannot be - fully satisfied. Today in Cuba the improvement of the quality of life of the population constitutes a vital problem and occupies a special place among the numerous economic and social problems to be solved, based on the updating of the Cuban economic model approved in the VI Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, and endorsed in the VII Congress, in whose Guidelines for Economic and Social Policy the issue of the quality of production and services is practically focused in all the chapters that make them up. This article is an attempt to approach the quality-of-life problem in times of great development of the productive forces, driven by the great advances of technical scientific progress, and in which design activity plays a fundamental role. The objective is to reflect on the relationship that must and must exist between the design activity, the quality of production and services, and the quality of life of the population. The importance of taking into account when producing the material and spiritual goods that Cuban society needs to satisfy its needs, that they respond to functional designs of great aesthetic and economic value.
