Publish scientific articles in the area of industrial design and visual communication

Abstract

Publishing scientific articles in the area of ??industrial design and visual communication could seem to some an "impossible mission", because this discipline, due to its intrinsic essence, is more suited to the creation of professional projects than to the scientific and systematized documentation of the same. However, among the professional performance modes of the designer, research is articulated with the others: design, evaluate and manage. The foregoing implies that, although writing texts or doing theory is not among the predilections of designers, from their own academic training the matter is not entirely foreign to them. That is why on this occasion we are pleased to publish "for the first time" two works that are the result of student research, one addresses the issue of political graphics and the other advertising, both in the current Cuban context. Two texts, results of Master's degree research, are also published, in both of which the relationship between Industrial Design and other disciplinary areas, such as biomimetics and neurosciences, is manifested.
The complexities of the political cartel and its relevance in the contemporary international scenario, taking six countries as a case study, is the subject of a review article. Of particular interest to architects and industrial designers may be the article referring to interior design in Cuba during the 1950s, a time when the postulates of the Modern Movement were consolidated on the Island.
The foreign contribution comes from Chile, a solution to the serious problem of water scarcity comes from the hand of innovation in design, its title "Freshwater: Wells of water in the air", may seem like science fiction, but the simple and useful The proposal is already a reality in some Chilean communities, it is patented and its authors present it in A3manos in order to socialize it.
