Clara Porset, a Woman in the Times of the Modern Movement.
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
The Modern Movement is recognized as the new way of projecting architecture and design, opposed to the ornamentation of the nineteenth century. Marked by rationalism based on usage, its history was been punctuated, essentially, by male figuresand its range by an American and Eurocentric vision. In this context Clara Porset, opened the path for Latin American design.
Studying her professional work, it is possible to appreciate a woman that had the audacity and, especially, the strength to overcome her time. Clara Porset Dumas was an important Cuban avant-garde designer, recognized not only because of her contributions to design and the way she taught it, but mostly because as a woman, she was acknowledged in a history mainly dominated by men.
